Fun Spot Media Day

June 3, 2013

Posted 4/15/13:

As I am sure you are aware, our good friends at FunSpot are in the midst of a HUGE expansion. In addition to the many new rides and additional go-kart track they are installing, they are also adding 3 new roller coasters. Among those three will be Orlando's first wooden roller coaster - White Lightning, a custom built GCI. It looks like it will be an amazing experience. Did I mention it will be Orlando's first wooden coaster?? With that said I am happy to announce that we have been invited by the FunSpot team to spend the day at their park on North International Drive on Monday, June 3rd. This invitation corresponds with their official Media Day. The media event will take place between 4pm and 8pm. However, due to the generosity of the FunSpot folks, we are free to meet much earlier in the day so that we as ACE members can spend the day together enjoying the newly expanded park and of course avail ourselves to the media when needed. I foresee many of you challenging your fellow ACE members to a race on the go-kart tracks for bragging rights! An all day wrist band typically costs $35 (not including Skycoaster). For our regional event, there is no cost to our group for the wristband. New coasters, new rides, newly expanded park, free for Florida Regional ACE members on that day :-)

There are a few things to know: This event WILL require advance registration. There are absolutely no walk-ups on day of event. You MUST be a valid ACE member. No guests, no significant others, no friend of a friend. Each participant will be required to show proof of ACE membership at time of entry to park. Skycoaster will be discounted to $20 for ACE members (that day only), it is NOT included with wristband. All applicable ACE codes of conduct apply. On ride photography is solely at the discretion of park management on event day.

In about a week or so I will be sending a link to the registration form and directions to park. Registration check-in time will be sometime in the late morning/early afternoon. Specific times will be posted on the registration form. The park is open until midnight that day, you are free to stay as long as you would like. Out of courtesy and respect, please plan to stay through the media event so we experts can talk about our passion and show our support to their new expansion and of course to the coasters.
