I was contacted today by our contact at Busch Gardens. They are in need of 24 ACE members to come out next Friday (May 19th) to help them celebrate the 1st anniversary of Sheikra (hard to believe it has been a year already!). They are shooting promo videos and they need us to fill the trains. However, there is one thing you need to know before you volunteer….all participants will be dressed as ...I am not making this up... as chickens. They will be supplying the chicken outfits.
They are playing off of the chicken t-shirts we got when we had our Florida Region event at the park last December. So if you have ever dreamed of riding a coaster dressed as poultry here is your golden opportunity. If you volunteer you must arrive at the park by 7:30 am. The chicken shoot will last from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. If you would like to spend some time in the park after the shoot, they will supply you with an admission ticket. Admission tickets will be good day of shoot only. To volunteer simply reply to this email and let me know the names of those attending and how many admission tickets you need. If you have an annual pass you don’t need a ticket to enjoy the park afterwards. There is no dress code per se since you will be experiencing Sheikra in your finest feathers and beaks. Unfortunately you may not attend if you are well over 6 feet tall and if you are large in girth – in other words if the restraints are snug on you in normal clothes you will not be at all comfortable in your chicken suit and obviously if they can’t properly secure the restraints you won’t be able to ride.
We ended up with 2 hours of ERT on Sheikra!! Had an all you can eat lunch buffet in the Gwazi pavilion and a visit from an animal handler for a private animal encounter. The highlight for many of us was guest speaker Mark Rose, VP of Design and Engineering who spoke about the history of BGT coasters and how they came to be. It was a fabulous discussion. To the 60 of you that attended, THANKS for being part of a day that exceeded our expectations.
